2022 UPDATED  Rules for US Entry

As of June 12, 2022 the CDC rescinded its order from 2021 requiring everyone aged two and up to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test, or proof of recovery from COVID-19 before being allowed on a flight to the United States.

This means we are no longer required to be tested before boarding a flight to the United States regardless of vaccination status or citizenship.  Not completely sure I am comforted by this notion, but here we are.

BUT the CDC continues to require proof of vaccination for non-citizen nonimmigrants traveling to the US.

"I will be wearing a mask and ... adding a face shield"

I will be wearing a mask, and since they do not protect me as much as it protects those around me I'll be adding a face shield from The Passport Hustle [info below]

STAY FLY-TIPS

  1. Carry an at-home test with you if you still want to monitor your status.
  2. Some resorts still have testing facilities. Check their prices and policies before being tested. And schedule a test when you check in or as soon as possible if you are worried and still want a test done.
  3. Carry masks with you and don't get caught needing one. A. some locations still require/heavily recommend them. B. Hearing a cough while on vacation will have everyone reaching for a mask.

2021 Rules for US Entry

Travel continues to become a reality for more and the good ol' USA is opening itself back up to the world. There are some new rules in the pipeline that also apply to Americans re-entering the country from abroad. Here is the gist of it:

  • The new rules begin on November 8, 2021.
  • Fully vaccinated travelers need to show proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than three days before entering the U.S.
  • Unvaccinated travelers must show a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than one day before entering the U.S.
  • Airlines will be collecting contact information for contact tracing purposes.
  • The Centers for Disease Control highly recommend that all travelers entering the U.S.—regardless of vaccination status—be tested for Covid three to five days after returning home. Unvaccinated travelers should quarantine for seven days after travel.
